Allis-Chalmers Corliss Engine
This engine drove the extractors at the Holly Sugar Mill in Santa Ana from 1911 to 1978. It has a 20" x 36" bore and stroke. It is double acting, meaning that the piston pushes and pulls, making two power strokes for every crankshaft revolution. The engine is governed at 80 rpm. The flywheel is 12' in diameter and weighs 19,000 pounds. The total weight of the engine is 84,000 pounds. Owned by the Museum.
