Ca. 1900 Vilter Corliss Steam Engine and Ammonia Refrigeration Compressor.
Built by the Vilter Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This unit was used in the Brookside Winery, Ca., Where it was used to provide the varying temperatures needed to "weather" the wines stored in casks in the aging cellar. It was used until the 1950s after which it sat until being brought to the Museum in 1986. Owned by the Museum.
